Childbirth Education — Southern California
Walk into labor feeling ready — not just hopeful
Evidence-based childbirth education taught by experienced doulas and birth educators. Practical, hands-on, judgment-free — so you and your partner feel genuinely prepared for whatever birth brings.
Our Teaching Approach
Birth education that meets you where you are — not where we think you should be.
A lot of childbirth classes are designed to reassure you. Ours are designed to prepare you. There's a difference. Reassurance feels good in the moment and disappears the second active labor starts. Preparation — the real kind, where you understand what's happening in your body, you've practiced the techniques with your partner, and you know how to ask for what you need in a hospital room — that stays with you.
Our classes are taught by experienced doulas who have actually been in the room. Not just instructors who have studied labor from a textbook, but people who have sat with hundreds of families through every stage of birth and who know what information matters most when things get real. Every class is evidence-based, inclusive, and practical — and every family is welcomed exactly as they are.
"The goal isn't for you to leave class feeling calm. It's for you to leave class feeling ready — so that calm follows naturally."

Check My Insurance CoverageCommon Questions About Birth Classes
When in pregnancy should I take birth classes?
Most families start around 28 to 32 weeks, which gives enough time to complete the full six-module rotation before your due date. That said, our rolling enrollment means you can start any week — even later in pregnancy — and we'll help you prioritize the most relevant modules if you're short on time. Earlier is generally better so you have time to practice what you learn.
Do both partners need to attend?
We strongly encourage it — and we've built Module 5 specifically around partner support training. Birth is a team effort and your support person is significantly more effective when they understand what's happening and what to do. That said, solo parents and families with other support people are absolutely welcome. The class is designed for every kind of family.
Are the classes in person or online?
Our regular Saturday classes are held in person in Southern California. In-person is strongly preferred because so much of what we teach — comfort measures, partner techniques, positioning — is hands-on and doesn't translate as well over a screen. If you have a specific need or circumstance that makes in-person attendance difficult, reach out and we'll discuss options.
Does insurance cover birth classes?
Yes — under California's Medi-Cal doula benefit, childbirth education can be billed as prenatal doula visits. This means families with Medi-Cal, IEHP, Health Net, Blue Shield Promise, Community Health Group, and Kaiser may qualify for covered classes with little or no out-of-pocket cost. Complete our free verification form and we'll confirm your eligibility before you register.
What if I've already taken a birth class somewhere else?
Our classes are still worth taking. Most hospital-based childbirth classes are short, general, and designed to reduce anxiety rather than genuinely prepare families. Our curriculum goes significantly deeper — especially on advocacy, partner support, and the real logistics of hospital birth. Many families who've taken other classes tell us ours was the one that actually made a difference.
Is this class good for families planning a VBAC or cesarean?
Yes — our curriculum covers VBAC preparation, gentle cesarean options, and the emotional landscape of all birth types. Module 3 specifically addresses cesarean birth and advocacy, and our educators have extensive experience with VBAC families. Every kind of birth is addressed with equal depth and respect.
